STAIN Bengkalis (public relations) Semarang – Chairman of the Bengkalis State Islamic College (STAIN), Dr. H. Abu Anwar, M.Ag attended the inauguration of the 23rd Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) held at the Walisongo State Islamic University (UIN) in Semarang, Central Java, on the evening of Thursday (01/02/2024).
In addition to the Chairman, other attendees included the Vice Chairman II of STAIN Bengkalis., H. Nasrun Harahap, MA, and the Head of AUAK, Edi Purnomo, MA.
The opening ceremony of AICIS 2024 was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Religion of Indonesia, Saiful Rahmat Dasuki. The Deputy Minister views AICIS 2024 as a strategic platform for defining the role of religion in addressing diverse global challenges.
“We hope that AICIS provides valuable perspectives on redefining the role of religion amidst humanitarian crises. Additionally, we aim to explore pathways towards a more peaceful, just, respectful world for all humans,” expressed the Deputy Minister of Religion.
In the meantime, the Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Rhamdani, conveyed his optimism that AICIS could generate a collective agreement to address global humanitarian challenges.
“AICIS is more than just an exclusive and theoretical academic platform; it is also an academic forum that provides solutions to various global crises,” mentioned the individual affectionately known as Kang Dhani.
During the event, Dr. H. Abu Nawar, M.Ag, the Chairman, mentioned to the Public Relations of STAIN Bengkalis that AICIS serves as both an international and an Islamic study events in Indonesia that adopts an inclusive and a more moderate approach to addressing the present humanitarian challenges.
The AICIS 2024 event, centered around the theme “Redefining the Roles of Religion in Addressing Human Crisis: Encountering Peace, Justice, and Human Rights Issues” is strategically organized to effectively respond to the prevailing global humanitarian challenges.
The inspiration behind this theme stems from the multitude of crises unfolding in different nations, including but not limited to Palestine, Rohingya refugees, Ukraine, and others.
“We aspire for the ideas, writings, and studies conducted by academics to play a significant role in addressing and resolving this issue,” stated the Chairman of STAIN Bengkalis.
